This guide covers everything you need to know to manage and update your two websites. No technical knowledge required.
| Site | Web Address |
|---|---|
| Nancy Music | nancy.mcohen3.com/nancymusic/ |
| Sing With Our Kids | nancy.mcohen3.com/singwithourkids/ |
Both sites work the same way — you can edit any page directly in your browser, no special software needed.
Open the page in your browser just like a visitor would.
Click in the address bar at the top of your browser and add ?edit= followed by the password Michael gave you, then press Enter.
Example: If you want to edit the About page on Nancy Music, the address bar should look like:
nancy.mcohen3.com/nancymusic/about.php?edit=YOUR-PASSWORD-HERE
A dark blue bar will appear at the top of the page that says "Edit Mode". The page content will turn into an editor — like a simple word processor right in your browser.
You can:
Click the green "Save" button in the dark blue bar at the top.
A quick message will confirm it saved. Your changes are live immediately — anyone visiting the page will see them right away.
Click the gray "Exit Edit Mode" button in the top bar, or simply visit the page address without the ?edit=... part.
While in Edit Mode, you can upload photos and images directly from your computer.
Supported formats: JPG, PNG, GIF, WebP
When you're in Edit Mode, a toolbar appears above the content area with these buttons:
| Button | What it does |
|---|---|
| Undo / Redo | Step back or forward through your changes |
| B / I | Bold or italic text |
| Link icon | Add or remove a clickable link |
| Image icon | Insert an image by URL |
| List icons | Bullet list or numbered list |
| Table | Insert a table |
| Code | View the raw HTML (only needed for advanced edits) |

/nancymusic/activities/homemade-instruments.php
Edit them the same way as any other page.
The Song of the Month page has its own dedicated editing form. It's designed to make it easy to post a new featured song each month.
?edit= and your password to the address bar| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Song Title | The name of the song (required) |
| Subtitle / Tagline | A short description, e.g. "A greeting song for circle time" |
| Month / Year | Type it out, e.g. "May 2025" |
| MP3 Audio | Upload an audio file from your computer |
| Lyrics PDF | Upload a PDF of the lyrics |
| Sheet Music PDF | Upload a PDF of the sheet music |
| Description / Notes | A short paragraph about the song, teaching ideas, etc. |

Important: When you save a new song, the previous song is automatically saved to the archive. Visitors can browse the archive by month or alphabetically — you don't have to manage that yourself.

Both sites each have their own password. Michael has them — ask him if you need a reminder.
?edit= and your password (no spaces)Changes are instant. The moment you click Save, the page is updated live on the internet. There's no "preview" step.
You can undo in the editor using the Undo button in the toolbar, but only while you're still in edit mode. Once you save, the previous content is replaced.
Images must be uploaded to the site before they can appear on a page. You can't just paste an image from your desktop into the editor — use the Upload Image button first to upload it, then insert it.
Links to other websites — when adding a link, paste the full web address including https://. Links within your own sites should start with /nancymusic/ or /singwithourkids/.
The editor looks like the live page. What you see in the editor is very close to what visitors will see. If something looks wrong in the editor, it will look wrong on the page.
If you close the browser without saving, your changes will be lost. Always click Save before closing or navigating away.
Both sites are independent. Changes to Nancy Music don't affect Sing With Our Kids, and vice versa.
